During the period of December 22, 2015 to January 1, 2016, Steinbach RCMP conducted seven checkstops within the City of Steinbach, the RM of La Broquerie, the RM of Hanover and the RM of Ste Anne. In total, approximately 170 vehicles were checked.
Police say that on December 27, a male driver was checked and found to be impaired by alcohol. He provided breath sample of over twice the legal limit. The driver, a 24-year-old Steinbach man, will appear in court in February to face charges of impaired driving and driving with a blood/alcohol level of over 80 mgs.
On December 29, a female driver was checked and found to be impaired. The driver provided breath samples which showed a blood/alcohol level of over 80 mgs. The driver, a 57-year-old Winnipeg woman will have a court appearance in Steinbach this February. She will be facing charges of impaired driving and driving with a blood/alcohol level of over 80 mgs.
