On July 2, 2009 at approximately 10:00 a.m., Teulon RCMP were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision involving a car and a motorcycle on Highway 7 at the intersection of Provincial Road 231 in Fraserwood, Manitoba.
The investigation into this matter, which includes reviewing the collision scene and eye witness accounts, indicate that a south bound car on Highway 7 attempted to make a left hand turn onto PR 231 in front of a north bound motorcycle. The driver of the motorcycle made efforts to stop, but struck the passenger side of the turning car.
The male driver of the motorcycle, a 49 yr old Interlake area resident, was taken to Gimli Hospital in critical condition. He died a short time later from his injuries. The female passenger of the car was taken to Teulon Hospital for treatment of undisclosed injuries. The driver of the car was not taken to hospital.
Teulon RCMP continue their investigation and a decision on possible charges will be made at the completion of that investigation. Neither alcohol nor speed are contributing factors in this collision.
