According to Statistics Canada, the number of Employment Insurance (EI) beneficiaries across the province remained stable in most areas.
Across the country, the number of people receiving regular EI benefits totalled 539,800 in December, little change (-0.5%) from the previous month.
Despite the year-over-year increase, the number of beneficiaries in Canada has levelled out in recent months. The change in the number of regular EI beneficiaries reflects various situations, including people becoming beneficiaries, people going back to work and people no longer receiving regular benefits.
