Three local drivers will be facing impaired driving charges in Steinbach Court after being caught by Steinbach RCMP this past weekend.
On March 5, 2016, at approximately 2:25am, Steinbach RCMP observed a vehicle travelling at a high rate of speed on Highway 52 West. The vehicle continued west on Main Sreet and was finally stopped by police near Reimer Avenue. The driver, a 21-year-old Steinbach man, provided samples of his breath which showed him to have nearly three times the legal limit of alcohol in his system. He was determined to be impaired and is scheduled to appear in Steinbach court on March 17, 2016.
On the same day at approximately 7:30pm, Steinbach RCMP were dispatched to a single motor vehicle collision in La Broquerie. The female driver, a 40-year-old woman, was found to be impaired by drugs. As a result, the woman is scheduled to appear in Steinbach Court on April 14 and will be facing charges of impaired operation of a motor vehicle by drugs.
During the early morning of March 6, at approximately 1:15am, a vehicle was stopped on Main street near Sunset. Police say that the driver had an odour of liquor, was given the roadside screening device and failed. The driver, a 52-year-old Steinbach man, was arrested for impaired driving and escorted to the detachment where he provided breath samples that were near twice the legal limit of alcohol. The man will appear in court on March 17 in Steinbach.
