Seniors Vote 2016 is pleased to announce the addition of a new member to its coalition – The Fédération des aînés franco-manitobains inc. (FAFM).
FAFM joins five other organizations representing more than 30,000 older Manitobans, all intent on making sure issues of importance to seniors are heard during the current provincial election. “We are very pleased to support Seniors Vote 2016,” said Thérèse Dorge, President of the Board of Directors of FAFM. “Older adults are facing some very serious issues that deserve to be heard. We have the right to know where the political parties stand on matters such as health care and affordable housing.”
Seniors Vote 2016 consists of five other organizations: Retired Teachers Association of Manitoba, Manitoba Association of Seniors Centres, Active Living Coalition for Older Adults (MB), Transportation Options Network for Seniors, and the Canadian Association for Retired Persons (CARP) – West Winnipeg.
Seniors Vote 2016 is highlighting the need for the next government to address the following key issues:
- Retirement Income Security
- Affordable Housing
- Health Care
- Transportation
- Social Engagement and Participation
- Healthy Aging, Quality of Life
The Coalition asked the three main political parties to respond to these issues; Seniors Vote 2016 will release those responses by the end of March.
