On April 16, 2016, at approximately 11:15am, officers from Killarney and Boissevain RCMP responded to the report of a head-on collision between a tractor trailer unit and a pickup on Highway 10 at the entrance to the Turtle Mountain Provincial Park.
Police say that the adult female driver of the pickup was taken to hospital with non-life threatening injuries and an adult male passenger was air lifted to hospital where he remains in critical condition. One adult female passenger was located deceased at the scene. All three occupants of the pick-up truck are from Sioux Valley First Nation. The driver of the semi did not receive any injuries.
A traffic analyst is assisting the ongoing investigation in order to establish all contributing factors to this fatal collision. RCMP report that alcohol and speed are not believed to a factor in this incident.
