On April 24, 2016, at 8:15am, Bloodvein RCMP officers received the report of a single vehicle rollover involving a pickup truck on East Side Road, approximately 5 kilometres south of the Bloodvein River bridge.
Initial police investigation has revealed that there were three occupants in the vehicle when the collision occurred, several hours earlier. It appears that the vehicle rolled over after losing control, ejecting the driver.
Police say that the driver, a 51-year-old female, was pronounced deceased at the scene. The front passenger, a 50-year-old male, was transported to hospital with serious but non-life threatening injuries. Both are from Bloodvein. The other passenger, a48-year-old male, did not suffer any injuries.
RCMP report that alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor in this fatal collision. Other potential factors are being investigated, with the assistance of a traffic analyst.
