On May 8, 2016,  just after midnight, officers from the Dauphin RCMP received a report of motorcycle collision on Highway 10, approximately 11 kilometres north of Ashville, Manitoba.

Investigators attended the scene and determined that a group of motorcycles had been traveling south on Highway 10, when the operator of the lead motorcycle noticed a couple of deer on the shoulder of the road and started to slow down. The operator of the second motorcycle rear-ended the lead bike causing the two to fall down. The remaining motorcycles were able to stop and avoid the collision.

Police say that the driver of the lead motorcycle, a 21-year-old Ochre River man and his passenger, a 21-year-old Dauphin woman, were transported to hospital for treatment of their injuries. The driver of the second motorcycle, a 48-year-old Dauphin man, was pronounced deceased at the scene.

RCMP report that all riders were wearing helmets and that speed and alcohol are believed to be contributing factors in this incident.
