A south bound 1999 Ford F250 truck towing a fully enclosed trailer on highyway 59 south of Ile des Chenes lost control and crossed into oncoming traffic on July 7, 2009 at approximately 5:30pm, colliding with a northbound 2002 VW Jetta.

The collision occurred in the two lane portion of the highway, south of the four lane divided portion of highway 59.

The Jetta, with four occupants was struck by the trailer, causing the Jetta to be spun around, coming to rest facing an easterly direction on the highway. The occupants of the Jetta were uninjured but the vehicle sustained wheel / rim damage and could not be driven any further. The F250 came to rest in the west side ditch after overturning both the truck and trailer. The two occupants including the driver (19-years-old) which were seat belted into the vehicle escaped uninjured. Subsequent to the roll over, the truck ignited and was fully engulfed in flames, possibly due to fluids leaking from the truck.

A damage value has not been determined at this time. Police continue to investigate the matter with speed and alcohol being ruled out as factors.
