Ted Falk, Member of Parliament for Provencher, recently announced that students in Provencher will have access to summer jobs that will help them gain valuable skills and work experience.
86 organizations in Provencher will be receiving funding totaling $380,624 to hire 105 summer students through the Canada Summer Jobs Program.
“Creating summer jobs for students benefits not only youth and employers, but also the local economy,” said MP Falk. “Through the Canada Summer Jobs Program, young people are being equipped with the skills and experience they need to get jobs now and prepare for the workforce of tomorrow.”
“We would like to thank Ted Falk and the Federal Summer Jobs program for having allocated a student to our organization,” said Roger Perron, Project Manager at Wildlife Haven Rehabilitation Centre.
“The student is developing wildlife education programs that will be utilized at our new wildlife hospital and education centre, where the public will learn about wildlife preservation and conservation. Without the financial assistance received, these programs would not have been developed.”
Canada Summer Jobs provides funding to not-for-profit organizations, public-sector employers, and small businesses with 50 or fewer employees, to help create summer job opportunities for students. The program also delivers important and diverse community services that can range from youth services organizations, to summer camps to services for seniors. Students learn transferable skills such as public speaking, time management, self-confidence, and organizational skills.
