On the evening of May 26, 2016, Carmen RCMP were involved in a serious incident in La Riviere, MB, involving an intoxicated man driving a school bus.
Police say that the incident began with a 911 call at approximately 9pm stating that a possible intoxicated male had left a residence in an empty school bus.
A member of the Carmen RCMP Detachment located the vehicle in La Riviere and attempted to stop the driver. The driver pulled over to the wrong side of the road and reversed the bus towards the cruiser. Through the quick action of the officer, the cruiser was not hit. The driver then attempted to flee the area and tried to hit the cruiser a second time – again missing the cruiser due to the actions of the officer. The driver eventually stopped, exited the bus and was arrested.
