Hank Klassen, Steinbach Food Bank veteran of over 35 years, has received the Governor General’s Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers, recognizing his exceptional volunteer achievements.
Klassen, who has volunteered at Steinbach’s South East Helping Hands food bank for over 35 years, received his medal on Thursday, June 9, 2016. Hank has fulfilled a variety of roles with Steinbach’s South East Helping Hands food bank and has helped the communities of Grunthal and Ste. Anne to open their own food banks. He is well-known by young and old alike in his community for his work – be it at the food banks, with the Lions Club or at the Steinbach Family Resource Centre.
The Sovereign’s Medal for Volunteers recognizes the exceptional volunteer achievements of Canadians from across the country in a wide range of fields.
