The City of Steinbach is preparing for a full day of celebration activities on Canada Day, Friday, July 1, 2016. Once again, the City has teamed up with the Mennonite Heritage Village to promote family fun activities starting with free admission to the museum at 10am until the fireworks finale at 10:45pm at the Steinbach Soccer Park.

In addition to an official flag raising ceremony at 1pm at the museum, there will horse drawn wagon rides and family entertainment throughout the afternoon. Families will then be encouraged to pick their spot at the Steinbach Soccer Park for the evening celebration. Starting at 8pm, a music DJ will be entertaining the crowd with music and games. From 9pm-10:30pm free Canada Day cupcakes, glow sticks and other giveaways will be handed out. The fireworks display is set to start no earlier than 10:45pm.

The City notes that prime viewing locations for the fireworks will be in the Soccer Park, Southland Church parking lot, L.A. Barkman Park (Abe’s Hill) and along McKenzie Avenue and Bush Farm Road. For safety reasons, the pathways between Bush Farm Road and the Soccer Park will be unavailable for public use from 8pm to midnight on July 1st.

The City is also looking for volunteers to assist with handing out cupcakes, glow sticks and other free giveaways from about 8:45pm to 10:30pm at the Soccer Park on Canada Day. If you are interested in volunteering, you can email communications@steinbach.ca or call 204-346-6572.
