On July 5, 2016, at approximately 11:50pm, Thompson RCMP responded to a report of a vehicle collision involving pedestrians in the City of Thompson, Manitoba.
Upon arriving at the scene, officers located a deceased 17-year-old male on the side of the road as well as an 18-year-old male in a nearby ditch suffering from serious injuries. The 18-year-old male was transported to hospital but later died of his injuries. Both victims were from Thompson.
Initial police investigation has revealed that the two males were walking along Thompson Drive with a group of friends when they were struck by a vehicle. The vehicle then struck a hydro pole and came to a stop. The driver of the vehicle, a 22-year-old female from Thompson, remained on scene and was taken into custody.
RCMP believe that alcohol is a factor in this incident.
