On July 23, 2016, at approximately 7:30am, Steinbach RCMP attended a residence on 4th Street in Steinbach after receiving a distress call from a female advising she had been assaulted.
Subsequent investigation led RCMP to an address on Main Street in Steinbach where Russell Peloquin, a 39-year-old Steinbach resident, was located attempting to hide from RCMP apprehension.
RCMP report that Russell Peloquin was subsequently arrested and remanded into custody to appear before the courts in Winnipeg. Peloquin has been charged with assault causing bodily harm, uttering threats to kill, possession of a weapon while committing an offence, overcoming resistance by choking, mischief under $5,000 and four breach charges for failing to comply with two separate recognizance orders.
