On July 14, 2009 around 12:30 am Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of a car on fire in the 500 block of 9th St NW.
When police arrived, Portage Fire Department was already on scene and had extinguished the fire. The vehicle was parked on the street, and there was no other damage to nearby property, the vehicle itself was destroyed. The vehicle was empty at the time of the fire, and no injuries were reported.
The cause of the fire is still under investigation, however police believe the fire to be suspicious.
