On July 14, 2009 at approximately 4am, members of the Steinbach RCMP Detachment responded to a report of a vehicle on fire on Main Street in Steinbach Manitoba.
When the police arrived they located the vehicle totally engulfed in flames. The fire was extinguished by the Steinbach Fire Department and subsequently a body of a male was located in the drivers seat.
The investigation determined that the vehicle was traveling Westbound on PTH 52 onto Main Street in Steinbach. The vehicle lost control on a curve and struck a light standard. Members of the Steinbach Detachment and RCMP traffic analysts are continuing with the accident investigation and with the assistance of the Provincial Medical Examiner, efforts are being made to identify the deceased.
Alcohol and speed are believed to have been involved in the accident.
