On July 10, 2009 at around 7:20am RCMP Selkirk received a report of an armed robbery at the Shell Gas Station located on Main Street in the City of Selkirk.
The night shift employee reported to RCMP that a male who had covered their face with a hoodie and wearing a hat entered the
store with a gun and demanded cash and cigarettes. The employee complied with the suspect’s request who then fled on foot.
RCMP attended the suspect’s residence who was identified through the store surveillance camera. RCMP recovered a replica handgun and several cartons of cigarettes that were hidden in the residence. An undisclosed amount of cash was not recovered.
The suspect upon arrest, identified now as a woman, advised investigators that the robbery had been set-up with the store employee.
RCMP have charged 32-year-old Mandie Deanna Grimolfson of Selkirk with theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace and use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence. Grimolfson was released before a Justice of the Peace on a recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on August 21, 2009.
RCMP have also charged the 19-year-old Thomas Matthew Norquay of Selkirk with theft under $5,000, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace, use of an imitation firearm in the commission of an offence and public mischief. Norquay was released before a Justice of the Peace on a Recognizance and is scheduled to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on August 21, 2009.
