At 3:30pm, July 26, 2009, RCMP in Stonewall received a report that a vehicle was found submerged in a gravel pit located approximately 10 kilometres north-west of Balmoral Manitoba, in the RM of Rockwood.

A group of ATV operators discovered a 7-year-old boy clinging to the vehicle. The boy was rescued and brought to shore. The bodies of a 33-year-old man and a 5-year-old boy (brother of the 7-year-old) were recovered from the pick-up truck at the scene. All three are residents of the Balmoral area in the RM of Rockwood.

Alcohol is believed to be a contributing factor. RCMP are continuing their investigation.
