On August 13, 2009, at approximately 7:45am, Portage la Prairie RCMP received multiple calls for assistance on Long Plain First Nation.
Some of the calls indicated that there may have been an assault while others reported their vehicles stolen or damaged. EMS crews from Portage la Prairie and Treherne attended to assist.
Police attended to three different people in three different areas of Long Plain, however all three are believed to be related. Two youth and one adult male were transported to Portage General Hospital for treatment. All three have been released from hospital, one of the youth was arrested and taken into custody for unrelated matters.
A van was found burnt near one of the injured males, however it’s involvement has not yet been determined.
The incident is still under investigation.
