On August 21, 2009, at 10:30am, Thompson RCMP were dispatched to a report of a single vehicle rollover on Provincial Road 280, approximately five kilometres west of Tataskweyak Cree Nation (Split Lake), Manitoba.
The driver of the vehicle, a 34-year-old woman, was seriously injured. 2 female passengers, both 34-years-old, were also in the vehicle, one received serious injuries and the other was deceased at the scene. Both injured women were transported to Thompson General Hospital for treatment. All 3 women are residents of Tataskweyak Cree Nation.
Alcohol is believed to be a factor in the rollover.
No charges are laid at this time, however the incident is still under investigation with the assistance of an RCMP Collision Analyst.

Further investigation has resulted in the vehicle’s driver, Brenda Harvey, 34, of Tataskweyak Cree Nation, being charged with impaired driving causing death, impaired driving causing bodily harm, dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death, and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm.
Harvey has been released from custody on a recognizance, and she is set to appear in court on October 20, 2009, at Tataskweyak Cree Nation (Split Lake), MB.
