On September 6, 2009, at 9:19am, Swan River RCMP and Swan Valley Ambulance responded to an accident on PR 483, one kilometre west of the Shoal River Reserve.
A lone male pedestrian who had been struck by a vehicle was transported to the Swan Valley Hospital and pronounced dead on arrival. The victim was a 28-year-old resident of the Shoal River Reserve.
Charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle causing death and drive over .08 is Merle Jason Munro, 35 years of age, of Winnipeg, Manitoba. Munro has been remanded into custody until September 9, 2009 in Dauphin, Manitoba.
Swan River RCMP, Parkland Traffic Services and the medical examiners office continue with the investigation.
The deceased’s name is not being released.
