David Richert racing in not-so-perfect conditions in round 8 of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup.

After starting the race from 22nd position, Niverville racer, David Richert, was able to finish Round 8 of the Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup in 14th spot.

It was an action filled race as the opening laps saw numerous cars end up in the trackside barrier. Richert’s calm head managed to carry him through to a positive result amidst all the chaos.

The race weekend got off to an extremely soggy start as on-track events were postponed by 2 hours due to a significant amount of rain which fell throughout the night and continued to fall during the morning. Once the rain let up enough, the drivers were given the very challenging task of piloting their race cars through practice, and both qualifying sessions on a wet track.

Round 9 of the Jetta TDI Cup also took place this weekend in New Jersey, Richert again survived unscathed and finished 16th.

The final event of the 2009 race season will take place at the Petit Le Mans, just outside of Atlanta, from September 24-26, 2009.
