On September 23, 2009, shortly after 8pm, RCMP Snow Lake Detachment were notified by an off duty RCMP member traveling through with radio service, that he came across a fatal single vehicle rollover on Highway 39, about 3 kilometres west on Highway 392 junction (Snow Lake turn off).
Investigation to date indicates that the driver lost control when the pick up truck was driven on the north shoulder at which point the driver lost control, the vehicle rolled, landing in the south ditch on it’s wheels. The driver was ejected and located several metres away from the vehicle in a water/mud filled ditch.
The driver, a 19-year-old man from Snow Lake, was pronounced deceased at the scene. His name is not being released at this time.
Alcohol is not considered a contributing factor. Seatbelt was not in use at the time of the rollover.
RCMP continue to investigate what lead to this collision.
