Around 3:30am, October 1, 2009, emergency personnel from Roblin were called to the scene of a single vehicle rollover in the RM of Shell River just outside of the Town of Roblin.
Investigators have determined that a pickup truck had been stolen from a business in Roblin sometime before the collision and was driven to into a field where it rolled onto it’s side, pinning one of the occupants against the ground. The driver of the truck and another man pulled the man free then went to get help for the injured man.
The man, a 17-year-old from Roblin, died prior to the arrival of ambulance, fire and police personnel from Roblin. The driver of the truck, a 22-year-old Roblin man, was arrested this morning.
An autopsy has been ordered. No charges have been laid and the investigation continues.
Alcohol was a factor.
