On October 1, 2009, RCMP Manitoba East District Green Team executed multiple Controlled Drugs and Substances Act (CDSA) search warrants on residences located in the RM of St. Andrews, the City of Winnipeg and a residence in the RM of Coldwell.
The search warrants were the result of a ten month investigation.
RCMP seized a total of approximately 1900 marijuana plants in various stages of growth, approximately 1 pound of processed marijuana and approximately $15 thousand dollars cash. The total value of drugs seized is approximately $2.3 million.
RCMP have arrested a 40-year-old woman and an 18-year-old man both residents of Winnipeg. Both suspects were released on a promise to appear and are scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Court on December 17, 2009 and will be facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking.
RCMP have also arrested a 38-year-old man, 40-year-old man, 41-year-old man and a 48-year-old woman also residents of Winnipeg. All suspects were released on a promise to appear and are scheduled to appear in Winnipeg Court on December 17, 2009 and will be facing charges of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and production of a controlled substance.
The Manitoba East District Green Team was assisted by the RCMP Integrated Proceeds of Crime, RCMP Police Dog Service, RCMP Selkirk Detachment, RCMP Lundar Detachment, Winnipeg Police Service, Ste. Anne Police Department and the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner.
