David Richert’s 2009 racing season has drawn to a close after the final event in Atlanta, Georgia.  With that, so does his 2 year career as a Volkswagen Jetta TDI Cup race car driver as next season he is beyond the age range permitted for competition in the series.

“The last couple of years have been an enormous boost for my racing career” stated Richert.  “However it is now time to move on and take the next step in advancing my professional driving career.  I have several exciting options ahead of me so hopefully we’ll be able to pull everything together and have some special news in the near future.  I would also like to say a massive thank-you to everyone at Wallace & Wallace Fences and Rainbow Trailers for all of their support this year.”

Throughout the season, Richert has been raising funds for international charitable organization, Samaritan’s Purse.  For every minute that Richert was on track racing, over $20 was being donated towards the construction of BioSand Water Filter units throughout parts of the world where the inhabitants do not have access to clean water.  Through the generous support of so many people and Richert’s accomplishment of completing every single minute of possible on track racing, the goal of raising $6,000 was exceeded!  Over 60 water filtration units will be constructed allowing over 500 people to gain access to clean water for their daily needs.

One final item of the 2009 season is still remaining as Richert will jet off to Germany on October 5th for the launch of the 2010 Volkswagen Golf and Golf TDI.  This trip is a prize from Volkswagen as a result of Richert recently winning the Jetta TDI Cup Public Relations Contest by doing the best job at promoting the Volkswagen brand.
