On January 6, 2009 at 4:29 p.m., RCMP Gillam Detachment were called to a single motor vehicle collision involving a Fox Lake First Nation school bus.
The school bus, which had left the Gillam School with 15 High School students and heading back to Fox Lake First Nation, was traveling east on PR 280 about 15 kilometres from Gillam when the bus driver hit the ditch.
RCMP attended the scene of the collision and arrested the bus driver who was a 55-year-old woman from Fox Lake First Nation for impaired driving. She was lodged overnight and released this morning on a promise to appear to attend court in Gillam May 11, 2009. She will be facing charges of impaired driving and refusing to provide breath samples.
There were no injuries to the kids involved and no damage to the school bus.
The investigation continues.
