On October 2, 2009 at 2:45am, RCMP Thompson Detachment were dispatched to a motor vehicle collision on Cree Road in the City of Thompson.

Detachment members responded and determined that a southbound pick up truck had crossed the center line and collided with a northbound local taxi cab. Investigators attending the scene found Constable Dana Randall, an off-duty member of the Thompson Detachment, displaying symptoms of impairment.

Thirty-year-old Dana Randall was arrested for the impaired operation of a motor vehicle and escorted back to Thompson Detachment where he refused to provide appropriate samples.

He was lodged overnight in Thompson Detachment and subsequently released on a promise to appear. Randall has since been charged with impaired operation of a motor vehicle and refusing breath demand.

He is scheduled to appear in Thompson Court on October 23, 2009.

No one was injured in the collision.

Dana Randall has been removed from active operational duties and his status is under internal review.
