Morden RCMP entered into an investigation where it was alleged that a man threatened a person in relation to criminal charges currently before the courts.

As a result of this investigation, on Thursday October 8, 2009 the RCMP, in conjunction with the National Weapons Enforcement Team executed a search warrant at a residence in the RM of Pembina. The search resulted in a seizure of 21 firearms, a large amount of ammunition and numerous prohibited knives. 

50-year-old John Mark Ching from the RM of Pembina was arrested at the scene and remanded into custody.

Ching faces numerous charges, including intimidation of a justice system participant, assault, two counts of utter threats. Numerous weapons charges include possession of restricted weapon, two counts of unauthorized possession of a weapon and two counts of unsafe storage of firearm.

He will appear in Morden Provincial Court on Tuesday October 13, 2009.
