On January 8, 2009 shortly before 8 p.m., RCMP Oakbank Detachment were dispatched to a residential fire in the Rural Municipality of Springfield about 6 miles east of Anola.

Upon arrival, the Rural Municipality of Springfield Fire Department was already on scene and the fire was fully involved.

The 54-year-old owner of the residence was tipped that something was wrong in the garage when he noted that a circuit breaker was tripped from the breaker panel. He went to investigate and noted smoke and flames when he opened the small garage door. The owner went back to the house to get his spouse and two dogs out of the house and called 911. There were no injuries.

The value of the loss is not known but the residence is considered a total loss.

The fire is not considered suspicious in nature.
