On September 20, 2009, at about 4:20am, Lac du Bonnet RCMP Detachment were dispatched to a fire at the Lakeview Inn and Dancyt Foods store.
The Lac du Bonnet, Pinawa and Bird River Fire Department were on scene, as well, the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner is providing assistance in this fire investigation.
Dancyt Foods store has been totally destroyed and the Lakeview Inn was evacuated. There is some fire damage to the hotel but has since been contained.
There have been no injuries reported and the cause of this fire has not yet been determined and remains under investigation.

The damage resulting from the fire is estimated at 1.5 million.
Update 10/22/09 3pm
The cause of the fire is not suspicious in nature and classified as accidental resulting from a hot water tank malfunction.
