On October 27, 2009, at 8:55am Brandon RCMP were called to a two vehicle accident at the intersection of Highway 1 and 250 in the RM Whitehead.
Police investigation revealed that a Semi tractor unit being operated by a 53-year-old male from Elgin, Manitoba, was heading north on highway 250 when he approached the Trans Canada Highway and entered the intersection. Upon entering the intersection it was struck by a pickup truck that was heading East on Highway 1. The pickup truck was being driven by a 25-year-old male from the Alexander area. His passengers consisted of 3 female adults, and one 3-month-old baby.
The 62-year-old female passenger from Alexander, Manitoba was transported to Winnipeg Health Sciences Center and on October 31, 2009, Brandon RCMP received word that she passed away from injuries.
