On October 30, 2009, at approximately 5:30pm, Manitou RCMP responded to the scene of a fatal motor vehicle collision at an uncontrolled intersection one mile north of Highway 3 and 2.5 miles west of Darlingford Manitoba.
A west-bound 1994 green GMC truck was struck by a north-bound 2008 brown Land Rover causing both vehicles to flip and come to a stop in the north-west corner of the intersection.
The 43-year-old male driver of the GMC was fatally injured while his 36-year-old female passenger remains in critical condition in hospital. The 32-year-old driver and lone occupant of the Land Rover was taken to hospital, treated and released. Seatbelts were used.
The cause of the collision remains under investigation by Manitou RCMP and RCMP collision analysts, but speed and alcohol are not considered to be a factor.
