On November 16, 2009 at about 4:45pm, RCMP Oakbank Detachment were dispatched to a collision between a pick-up truck and a tanker truck on Garven Road between Vernon Road and Provincial Road 206 in the RM of Springfield.

Both vehicles were westbound when the tanker truck was rear-ended by a pick-up truck. The tanker truck was hauling anhydrous ammonia at the time of the collision but no leak occurred following the collision.

The collision resulted in minor injuries. The driver of the pick-up truck was sent to Concordia Hospital as a precaution and the tanker truck driver has no known injuries.

There are no environmental concerns. The Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner as well as the Springfield Fire Department also attended the collision to provide assistance.

What lead to the rear-end collision remains under investigation, however, alcohol is not considered a contributing factor.
