On November 18, 2009, at 8pm, Flin Flon RCMP were called to a local residence where a male had allegedly stabbed one of the two adult female occupants after a domestic disturbance.

The females escaped the residence and police were called. The male barricaded himself in the residence where the incident occurred. RCMP established communication with the suspect as he refused to surrender to police. 

RCMP D Division negotiators and RCMP Emergency Response Teams from Winnipeg and Saskatchewan were called to assist and after a 17 hour standoff, the male surrendered himself to police without incident. 

The female victim, a 47-year-old Flin Flon resident and an acquaintance of the suspect, was medevaced to Winnipeg for treatment and is reported in stable condition with non-life threatening injuries.

The 55-year-old male from Flin Flon involved in this incident is currently held in custody at the RCMP Flin Flon Detachment. Charges are pending. 

Flin Flon RCMP are continuing their investigation into the circumstances of the incident.

Allan Walter Witt of Flin Flon has been charged with the following offences following the incident:

1) Attempted Murder  S. 239(b) CC
2) Aggravated Assault S. 268 CC
3) Assault  S. 266 CC
4) Dangerous Driving S. 249(1)(a) CC

Witt has been remanded into custody to appear in The Pas Provincial court Monday November 23, 2009.
