On November 20, 2009, at approximately 11:20am, the Selkirk RCMP’s General Investigation Section (GIS) and Community Policing Unit arrested two students at the Lord Selkirk Regional Comprehensive Secondary School (LSRCSS) in Selkirk Manitoba.

The arrests were part of a week long investigation into drug trafficking at the high school which had been of concern to area residents and school administrators.

A 16-year-old Selkirk youth will be facing charges of possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and possession of property obtained by crime.

The youth was released on a promise to appear and is scheduled to appear in Selkirk Court on January 8, 2010. A second 16-year-old East Selkirk youth was also released on a promise to appear and will be facing charges of  possession of a controlled substance, possession for the purpose of trafficking and is also scheduled to appear in Selkirk Court on January 8, 2010.

RCMP seized approximately $200 in cash and approximately 20 grams of marijuana with an approximate street value of $200.00.
