On December 1, 2009, at about 7:30pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a complaint of a single vehicle rollover collision on the Trans Canada Highway Bypass in Portage la Prairie.

Portage la Prairie RCMP attended the location with Portage Emergency Services and Regional Health Authority Ambulance. Investigation at the scene revealed that a 2005 GMC Yukon had been traveling West bound on the Trans Canada Highway when the driver, a 26-year-old man from the from the Virden area, lost control and went into the ditch. The vehicle rolled over and landed on its side.

There were 4 passengers, a 40-year-old woman was transported to the Portage General Hospital for treatment of non life threatening injuries. There were no other injuries reported and the highway remained open.

Weather and icy roads are considered to be a factor. RCMP remind motorists to use caution when driving, and adjust driving speed to road conditions.
