On December 1, 2009 at about 4am, RCMP Leaf Rapids Detachment were dispatched to a residence in Leaf Rapids where a male had been allegedly assaulted. 

RCMP and local EMS attended and found a 27-year-old male resident bleeding and learned that while at another residence, he was assaulted. The victim was transported to the Leaf Rapids Health Center and subsequently medevaced that morning to the Thompson General Hospital. His injuries were considered serious in nature, however, not life threatening. Currently, the victim remains at the Thompson General Hospital for treatment.  

RCMP Leaf Rapids Detachment continued to investigate and have since arrested and charged 23-year-old Delphine Baker of Leaf Rapids with aggravated assault and three counts of breach of probation in connection with this victim’s complaint. 

RCMP also learned of a separate incident at the same location involving an adult female victim for which Delphine Baker has additionally been charged with sexual assault and assault causing bodily harm. 

A third complaint of assault also came forward, where a 23-year-old male, who is a resident of Pukatawagan, was also assaulted at that same residence. Delphine Baker was charged with assault causing bodily harm and assault with a weapon in connection with this incident.

Delphine Baker was remanded into custody to appear in Thompson Provincial Court on December 7, 2009.

The investigations remains ongoing.
