On December 9, 2009, at about 8pm, Portage la Prairie RCMP responded to a report of a head-on collision on Ojibway Trail on Long Plain First Nation.

Initial reports indicate that a 2000 Jeep Grand Cherokee was being driven East bound on Ojibway Trail by a 26-year-old woman from Portage la Prairie, when it collided head-on with a 2004 Jeep Liberty, being driven West bound by an 18-year-old man from Long Plain First Nation. Both vehicles had extensive front end damage.

An RCMP Traffic Collision Analyst attended the scene to assist in the investigation.

Both vehicle drivers were transported by ambulance to Portage District General Hospital for treatment, as well as two passengers, one from each vehicle, all with non life threatening injuries. There were no other passengers involved, and no other injuries reported.

Alcohol is not considered a factor.

Police continue to investigate.
