On December 21, 2009, Lac Du Bonnet RCMP responded to a report of an assault that took place at the Milner Ridge Correctional Facility, located in the RM of Lac Du Bonnet.
The investigation revealed that a 33-year-old man, an inmate of the facility, was assaulted by approximately 8 other inmates. The victim sustained life threatening injuries and was transported to the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg and is currently listed in stable, but critical condition.
Lac Du Bonnet RCMP have charged 8 inmates at Milner Ridge Correctional Facility.
20-year-old Quentin Gerald Bird, 18-year-old Wilfred George Cook, 21-year-old Eugene Bradley Laquette, 25-year-old Michael Lavalee, 20-year-old Howard Jones Pagee, 20-year-old Colton Richard Patchenose, 20-year-old Clarence Raymond Scott and 21-year-old Jonathan Diego Young have all been charged will aggravated assault.
All 8 accused have been remanded into custody and will remain at Milner Ridge with a teleconference hearing being scheduled on December 23, 2009, in Winnipeg.
Lac Du Bonnet RCMP are continuing the investigation.
