On January 4, 2010, at approximately 5:25am, Selkirk RCMP received a report of a house fire at a residence on Grand Beach Road located in Grand Marais, Manitoba.
The fire was attended to by the Selkirk RCMP and the RM of St. Clement’s East Beaches Fire Department. The residence was engulfed with flames and was completely destroyed by the fire.
Further investigation into the fire lead to the discovery of a deceased body being located inside the burnt residence.
The identity of the deceased will not be released at this time until notification of next of kin is made and positive identity of the victim is made through dental records.
An autopsy has been ordered, however, a date has not yet been determined.
The cause of the fire is not considered suspicious, however, the Grand Marais RCMP with the assistance of the Manitoba Office of the Fire Commissioner continue to investigate.
