After an ongoing investigation, police have now arrested a Winnipeg man in connection with a fatal three vehicle collision which occurred this past November.
On Sunday, November 23, 2008, at about 5:45pm, Headingley RCMP were called to a three vehicle collision on Highway 3 in the town of Oak Bluff.
An older model Jaguar, going eastbound on Highway 3, at an excessively rate of speed, subsequently rear-ended a GMC Safari Van which in turn lost control causing it to collide head-on with a GMC 1500 pick-up truck.
The 46-year-old female driver of the GMC truck sustained serious injuries and was transported to the Health Sciences Centre in critical condition where she later died. The male driver of the Safari Van did not suffer injuries.
Police continued with the investigation and on January 13, 2010, 36-year-old Roland Artimowich of Winnipeg was arrested in Winnipeg and is now formerly charged for criminal negligence causing death, dangerous driving causing death and failing to remain at the scene of an accident. Artimowich will make his first appearance in Winnipeg court day.
The 46-year-old female driver of the GMC truck who died in the collision was identified as Odette Dequier of Winnipeg.
