On January 16, 2010, at approximately 8:20pm, Selkirk RCMP received a report of an armed robbery at a gas station located on Main Street in the City of Selkirk.

A lone suspect, wearing a toque and sunglasses, had entered the gas station with a knife and demanded cash from the employee. After receiving an undisclosed amount of money the suspect left the scene on foot.

RCMP have charged 49-year-old Michael Stephen Klimchuk of Winnipeg with robbery with a weapon, utter threats to cause bodily harm and possession of a weapon dangerous to the public peace. Klimchuk was remanded into custody at the Winnipeg Remand Centre and was scheduled to appeared in Winnipeg Court on January 18 and again on January 19, 2010.

RCMP have also charged two youth in connection with the robbery. A 17-year-old male resident of the RM of St. Clement’s and a 17-year-old female resident of Winnipeg have been charged with being a party to the offence of robbery, public mischief and possession of stolen property under $5,000. Both youth were released before a Magistrate and are scheduled to appear in Selkirk Court on January 29, 2010.
