Two Powerview RCMP Detachment officers have been charged in connection with an alleged assault to a local resident dating back to October 2008.

On November 13, 2008, RCMP D Division received a complaint that a 19-year-old (at the time) Powerview area resident was assaulted by two on-duty officers.

It was alleged that the Powerview Detachment members had, back on October 24, 2008, assaulted the complainant while being transported from Traverse Bay to the Lac du Bonnet Detachment.

RCMP began an investigation and on January 6, 2010, Manitoba Justice formally notified RCMP D Division that charges of assault were recommended against the two officers.

On January 19, 2010 both 40-year-old Corporal Jeffrey Thomas Moyse and 29-year-old Constable Trevor Kyle Ens, formerly stationed at Powerview Detachment were respectively charged with assault and summonsed to appear in Pine Falls Provincial Court on February 25, 2010.

An internal disciplinary process has been initiated. Both members have since been transferred from Powerview Detachment to other Units in D Division.
