On January 23, 2010, at approximately 3:05am Portage la Prairie RCMP received a dispatch of a snowmobile collision near Angle Road located in the RM of Portage la Prairie, just south of the city.
A 39-year-old man and driver of the snowmobile from the RM of Portage la Prairie was operating his snowmobile when he collided with a tree. The man was pronounced deceased at the scene by attending Fire and Ambulance personnel from Portage la Prairie.
Heavy and drifting snow are believed to be contributing factors. The name of the deceased is not being released at this time pending notification of next of kin.
Portage la Prairie RCMP continue to investigate.
