Just after 10am on February 12, 2010, Emergency Service personnel were called to the Colonel Barker Elementary School in Dauphin regarding a fire.
A fire was discovered near the south entrance to the school and all staff and students were evacuated safely and quickly from the school.
RCMP report that the fire was extinguished by firefighters.
The origin of the fire is suspicious and the investigation is being conducted by the Dauphin RCMP in conjunction with the Office of the Fire Commissioner.
The Barker School is a kindergarten to grade 6 elementary school with an enrollment of approximately 270 students.

Investigators have determined the fire at Barker School this morning to be accidental due to improper use of electrical equipment.
