On February 13, 2010, at about 11:50pm, Selkirk RCMP Detachment received a call of a single vehicle collision on Highway 59 between Birds Hill Provincial Park entrance and Highway 44.

RCMP and EMS attended the collision. The vehicle in question was reported to have been traveling northbound on Highway 59 and rolled in the east side ditch. The older model BMW had three occupants, one of the two passengers was ejected from the vehicle.

Both passengers were sent to hospital for treatment. The passenger ejected, a 21-year-old from Oakbank, is currently in critical condition at the Health Sciences Centre. The other, a 24-year-old from Winnipeg, had non-life threatening injuries and has since been released from hospital.

The driver was placed under arrest for impaired driving causing bodily harm and escorted to the Selkirk detachment. 27-year-old Michael Abe Teichroeb of Winnipeg, was charged with two counts of impaired driving causing bodily harm, two counts of dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing bodily harm and one count of refusing to provide a breath sample.

Teichroeb was released on a recognizance to appear in Selkirk Provincial Court on March 26, 2010.

Update 03/10/10 9:07am

On March 1, 2010 RCMP Selkirk Detachment learned that the 21-year-old passenger, who had been in critically injured in this collision, had succumbed to his injuries on February 26, 2010. 
 
On March 2, 2010, Michael Teichroeb of Winnipeg was formerly charged with impaired driving causing death and dangerous operation of a motor vehicle causing death. Teichroeb will be appearing in Selkirk Court March 26, 2010.
