On March 3, 2010 at 8:25am, RCMP Neepawa Detachment along with local EMS, the Eden Fire Department and the Neepawa Fire Department were dispatched to a two vehicle collision involving a school bus.
The collision occurred about 3 miles north of Neepawa on Highway 5 at the intersection of a gravel road in the RM of Rosedale. Heavy fog and poor visibility was reported at the scene.
RCMP have been able to confirm that 13 children were on board the school bus at the time of the collision. All were taken to the Neepawa Hospital as a precaution, none of them were injured.
The driver of the vehicle, a 50-year-old woman from Winnipegosis, was also transported to the Neepawa Hospital and is being transferred to the Health Sciences Centre. Her condition is not known by police at the present time.
Alcohol is not considered a factor. However, poor visibility due to heavy fog is.
The RCMP Neepawa continue to investigate assisted by the RCMP Dauphin Reconstructionist.
