On March 7, 2010, at approximately 10:30am, RCMP were informed of a sexual assault which had occurred in Waywayseecappo First Nation on March 6, 2010.
Investigation has revealed that a 16-year-old female youth from Waywayseecappo FN was sexually assaulted by two adult males at a residence in Waywayseecappo First Nation.
A 25-year-old male has been charged with one count of sexual assault, while a 21-year-old male has been charged with aggravated sexual assault, sexual assault and several other offences related to the incident, including charges for failing to comply with his recognizance. Both males are residents of the Waywayseecappo First Nation community.
The two males have been remanded in custody to appear in Brandon Provincial Court on Thursday, March 11, 2010. They will not be identified by the RCMP to protect the victim’s identity.
Waywayseecappo RCMP continue to investigate.
